Cities are made of places with degrees of publicness, including museums, restaurants, theatres, shops, malls and transport systems...But one issue is the honest use of language.</p></em><br /><br /><p>
A new group London River Park Ltd is proposing a new park running along the river Thames. The idea for the park comes from the Singaporean asset-management company Venus who would pay the entire £50m cost and and the proposed design is by the architects Gensler. The hope is to have it ready in time for the 2012 Olympics and the celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II's 60-year rule.</p>

Critic Rowan Moore wonders however if such a park really qualifies as a 'public' amenity and uses the opportunity to chart the stealthy rise of pseudo-public spaces.</p>
