The course offerings are due to launch on April 29th and will offer "dialogue on current topics like affordable housing during a pandemic as well as in-demand technical training."</p>
<p>"Our intention is to show our solidarity with our extended architecture community by offering free classes to professionals that can be accessed remotely," said <a href="https://archinect.com/features/article/150142013/deans-list-pratt-s-dr-harriet-harriss-on-academia-s-role-in-preparing-architects-of-the-future" target="_blank">Harriet Harriss</a>, dean of the School of Architecture, in a statement. "Thanks to our partnership with AIA Brooklyn, architects can earn the vital credits they need to complete the CPD requirements necessary to maintain registration."</p>

Some of the messages joked that abusing children was sexually arousing, while others had punchlines directed at specific ethnic or racial groups. One called the hypothetical hanging of a Mexican child “piñata time.”</p></em><br /><br /><p>Ten students who managed to beat out nearly 38,000 others to gain admission to Harvard lost their chance to attend the university after sharing offensive online memes in a private Facebook chat. After discovering the memes, which ironically were traded over a platform designed by a former alumnus over a decade ago, the College withdrew the students' offers of admission, upholding the institution's strong commitment to ethics. </p>

With this move, we’ve put an emphasis on capturing the culture, or Quartziness, that defines Quartz employees and their work: global, nerdy, creative, and so on...This diary is part of a new obsession at Quartz, also called The Office, which is exploring the future of work, from management structures to the gig economy to distributed workplaces to compensation.</p></em><br /><br /><p>From mass-scale organizations like <a href="http://archinect.com/news/article/149935208/can-wework-re-engineer-the-spatial-dynamics-of-society" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">WeWork</a> to four year old "digitally native news outlet" Quartz, the questions of what defines work culture in a largely post-manufacturing, perennially fluid global infrastructural era are still being formulated. Quartz is currently asking how "How do you capture a company’s culture in a physical space?" as they prepare to move into a new office while documenting that process on Medium.</p><p><img title="" alt="" src="http://cdn.archinect.net/images/650x/4e/4eg5w33ag3wlgvtq.jpg"></p><p><a href="http://archinect.com/news/article/92386445/archinect-s-employer-of-the-day-weekly-round-up-7" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Desai Chai Architecture</a> is designing this as-yet-undefined space for Quartz. Desai is correspondingly basing their ideas not only on the titular physical mineral, but a more abstract notion of what constitutes the company. Schindler’s domestic experiment...Visitors often ask detailed questions. They are curious about Schindler’s thought process when designing and constructing the house; how the house has been used, understood, and canonized throughout the decades; and how the house is holding up today.</p></em><br /><br /><p>For years, the Schindler House in West Hollywood has served as a cultural backdrop for a multitude of MAK Center exhibitions that have -- in turn -- continuously reinvented the experience of the house and also uniquely demonstrate the ongoing need to preserve the house. Whether engaging with the house itself, examining its use as a domestic space, or reflecting on its 93-year-old history as a modernist icon, every one of these artistic interventions resulted from a meticulous process of discussion, debate, and creative problem solving -- all of which the MAK Center chronicles in an online publication known as the Schindler Lab.</p><p>First initiated in 2011 by MAK Center consultant and cultural producer Sara Daleiden, the Schindler Lab is divided into sections that starts off with the Schindler House's architecture and history. The graduate-level course, which starts today until April 24, 2015, focuses on topics like demand for resources, energy systems, self-interest and altruism. The course also allow students to learn about new methods of sustainable practices that work towards "authentic sustainability" instead of "superficial greening."</p><p>Taught by Robert Fleming, co-creator and Director of the Master of Science in Sustainable Design Program at Philadelphia University, the course will be taught via HD videos, narrated PowerPoint presentations, text-based learning modules + interactive quizzes, and faculty-moderated and peer online discussions.
