The competition invites U.S.-based architects to team up with filmmakers to tell the stories of projects that are making a positive impact on their communities. The theme serves as a reminder of the social impact that architects can create through their designs.</p><p>Registration is open now until Monday, June 26. All film entries submitted by the August 13 deadline will be reviewed by a jury panel, including architects <a href="http://archinect.com/news/article/128795286/aia-moves-one-step-forward-in-approval-of-equity-in-architecture-resolution" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Rosa Sheng</a> and <a href="http://archinect.com/news/article/150004906/michael-ford-on-why-teaching-hip-hop-architecture-is-crucial" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Michael Ford</a>, AIA President <a href="http://archinect.com/news/article/127639747/thomas-vonier-elected-2017-aia-president" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Thomas Vonier</a>, film producer John Montague (associate producer of “Moonlight”), and Benjamin Moore Design Director Priscilla Ghaznavi.</p><p>From August 21-October 6, the public will get a chance to vote for their favorite entries. Instead of announcing only one winner for the 2017 Curry Stone Design Prize, the Social Design Circle was created to honor a total of 100 individual designers and practices across the globe whose work is dedicated to addressing an array of social issues in their local communities and cities.</p></em><br /><br /><p>Throughout 2017, new members will be selected in relation to the monthly question addressed by the Social Design Circle. For March, the question was “Can Design Challenge Inequality?”.</p><p>The latest members include the Detroit Collaborative Design Center, design practice Project H, Kigali-based Active Social Architecture, and more. Designed by a multidisciplinary team led by SCAPE / Landscape Architecture, Living Breakwaters uses an "Oyster-tecture" ecological intervention concept to help create resiliency for coastal cities. As its starting point, the project uses the Northeastern Seaboard of the U.S., which suffered heavy damage from Hurricane Sandy.</p></em><br /><br /><p><img title="" alt="" src="http://cdn.archinect.net/images/514x/yv/yvuxq0jusru4ewal.jpg"><img title="" alt="" src="http://cdn.archinect.net/images/514x/lr/lr51q2ybqf2sexci.jpg"></p><p>Kate Orff of SCAPE will accept the Fuller Challenge prize and the US$100,000 cash award on behalf of the winning team at The Wythe in Brooklyn, NY on November 20.</p><p>The SCAPE team is composed of: SCAPE/LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE with Parsons Brinckerhoff, Dr. Philip Orton / Stevens Institute of Technology, Ocean & Coastal Consultants, SeArc Ecological Consulting, LOT-EK, MTWTF, The Harbor School and Paul Greenberg.</p><p>Head over to <a href="http://www.bustler.net/index.php/article/living_breakwaters_wins_2014_buckminster_fuller_challenge/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Bustler</a> to learn more about the project.</p>

<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/s4/s4ry8g3fy7ea37k1.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><em><p>Congolese performance and theater group Studios Kabako from Kisangani was announced as the 2014 Curry Stone Design Prize winner this past weekend at an awards ceremony in Brussels...Studios Kabako was established in 2001 to address the various emotions linked to the aftermath of civil war. And to increase contribution to the Foundation's goals, Autodesk will encourage their more than 7,000 employees worldwide to volunteer with or donate to their organizations of choice.</p><p>Through the Impact Design Program, the Foundation will collaborate and provide select design-oriented non-profit groups with software, training, and funding to support the group's causes. Some of the Foundation's first grantees include initiatives like <a href="http://www.kickstart.org" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">KickStart International</a>, <a href="http://massdesigngroup.org" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">MASS Design Group</a>, <a href="http://d-rev.org" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">D-Rev</a>, and the <a href="http://www.ruralstudio.org/initiatives/20k-house" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">20K House project</a> from Auburn University's Rural Studio.</p><p>The Foundation will also incorporate Autodesk's Technology Impact program.
