Oppenheim Architecture unveils images of their crystal quartz-inspired luxury towers in Australia

The Miami-based architecture, interior design, and planning firm Oppenheim Architecture shared images of their latest luxury mixed-use project, the Jewel. In February 2020, we connected with firm founder Chad Oppenheim for a Studio Snapshot interview. During the interview, we discussed the firm's work and design ethos. "The practice is much more about creating a platform for expression," he shared.

"We started by doing projects in up and coming areas and using architecture as we way to extract the best return on investment for our clients," shared Oppenheim. "Further down, we wanted to see how architecture can be as elemental as possible. Little by little, we were brought onto projects on spectacular sites, and we wanted to make the most out of them – bringing feeling and emotion as part of our ethos."

By Miami-based architect Chad Oppenheim and editor Andrea Gollin, the new publication explores the architectural designs from fifteen films through architectural illustrations and renderings, photographs, essays, film analyses, and interviews. Some of the films featured include Dr. Strangelove, The Incredibles, Blade Runner 2049, and You only Live Twice. It will be released on November 5th.

Oppenheim Architecture opens Emiliano Hotel overlooking famous Copacabana Beach

Copacabana has conjured images of beauty, sand and ocean, long before Barry Manilow was singing its praises. Capitalizing on some of the best beach-adjacent real estate north of Havana, the Emiliano Hotel enlisted the help of Oppenheim Architecture for the hotel brands new location on Rio de Janeiro's most famous beach.

The Miami-based studio has designed the hotel to try to make the most of its historic outlook. "The project fronts one of the most beautiful views in the world while being surrounded on three sides by dilapidated apartment buildings from the 1950’s. Through simple yet powerful spatial manipulations, the hotel optimizes its beneficial attributes while subverting its negative forces" the firm stated.
