How would <em>that</em> make you feel?</p> <p>Juliana Fajardo, Chief of Staff at AF New York, is betting that this very unorthodox and equally provocative installation will provoke a powerful reaction, one way or another: &ldquo; The gallery style, the re-contextualization of these objects, allows you to appreciate them on another level, to experience the different textures, the artfulness and the beauty of the forms.&rdquo;</p> <figure><p><a href="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/5a/5a02959da2f959b148bfca34d1ee1bae.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;w=1028" target="_blank"><img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/5a/5a02959da2f959b148bfca34d1ee1bae.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;w=514"></a></p><figcaption>Kaldewei Washbasins</figcaption></figure><p>Looking at White Room&rsquo;s many mounted urinals, one can&rsquo;t help but think...</p> https://archinect.com/news/article/150259775/researchers-create-ultra-white-paint-that-could-cool-buildings Researchers create ultra-white paint that could cool buildings Alexander Walter 2021-04-16T17:54:00-04:00 >2024-03-15T01:45:58-04:00 <img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/b7/b769ca7a36816f6ab9d38ac76101d71b.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><em><p>Scientists in the US have developed a paint significantly "whiter than the whitest paint currently available". The festival showcases exhibitions, installations, workshops, and other events highlighting architecture and design in the city.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>This year, London-based designer <a href="http://www.yinkailori.com/" target="_blank">Yinka Ilori</a> created two projects that filled the city streets with life through <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/40598/color" target="_blank">color</a>. First is the multicolored pavilion, "<a href="https://archinect.com/news/bustler/7335/first-photos-of-the-newly-opened-dulwich-pavilion-the-colour-palace" target="_blank">The Colour Palace</a>,"&nbsp;built in collaboration with London-based architecture firm <a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/150073026/pricegore" target="_blank">Pricegore</a>. Located outside the Dulwich Picture Gallery, the design was inspired by the markets of Balogun in Lagos, Nigeria. Intense heating and other weather conditions like rain and dust generate a lot of stress and strain on the exteriors of many buildings. Unless you've jumped on the "working remotely" craze, many work in office buildings/complexes that haven't changed since 1999. The common <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/40598/color" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">color</a> palette of an office is usually a mixture of neutral tones like beige and subdued grays. Although, with the appearance of trending communal workspaces and open floor office concepts, the general public still identifies office settings to resemble sets seen in <em>The Office </em>or&nbsp;<em>Office Space</em>. However, an office's color palette and <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/13547/lighting" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">lighting</a> may be more important than you think. Architects and designers are designing offices that not only look better but interact with the senses to evoke happier and more productive staff.</p> <figure><p><a href="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/0e/0e468b4877637f9350e2ef39949a6b4a.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;w=1028" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/0e/0e468b4877637f9350e2ef39949a6b4a.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;w=514"></a></p><figcaption>Office Space (1999) Image &copy; Twentieth Century Fox</figcaption></figure><figure><p><a href="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/6e/6ebe13bac970d17a4b63b807692f0cdb.jpeg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;w=1028" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/6e/6ebe13bac970d17a4b63b807692f0cdb.jpeg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;w=514"></a></p><figcaption>Cubical Hallway Image &copy; Great Beyond</figcaption></figure><p>Now don't get me wrong, many companies have given their office spaces a facelift over the years by implementing an assortment of "trending" office interior upgrades. Verner Panton's iconic designs have noted him an innovator in <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/53271/furniture" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">furniture</a> as well as atmospheric design. Deemed the "bad boy" of Danish design, Paton's rise as an icon in <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/60262/contemporary" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">contemporary</a> design broke through social convention. His take on design and its accessibility to others was his calling card.
