<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/f8/f8a51e8cbb8ac7617c5b006c270061d0.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p><strong><em>This post is brought to you by <a href="https://arch.usc.edu/" target="_blank">USC School of Architecture</a></em></strong></p><p>Next Monday, September 9th, the <a href="https://archinect.com/uscarchitecture" target="_blank">USC School of Architecture</a>, in partnership with <a href="https://visionsandvoices.usc.edu/" target="_blank">USC Visions & Voices</a> and <a href="https://www.moca.org/" target="_blank">The Museum of Contemporary Art</a>, will host a conversation between Icelandic-Danish artist <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/31696/olafur-eliasson/" target="_blank">Olafur Eliasson</a> and MOCA director Johanna Burton to mark the inception of the third Pacific Standard Time Art exhibition in Los Angeles.</p>
<p>Eliasson is the subject of an upcoming MOCA exhibition, <em><a href="https://www.moca.org/exhibition/olafur-eliasson-open" target="_blank">Olafur Eliasson: Open</a></em>, which runs through July 6th, 2025, at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA downtown space. </p>

In its third regional collaboration, the Getty's Pacific Standard Time series thematic overview includes sustainability and environmental justice, indigenous knowledge, technology and futurism, the science and technology of architecture, and more. </p>
<p>Forty-five institutions have been awarded funding totaling $5million. Hammer Museum director Ann Philbin discusses the role art and science will play during this iteration of PST in the following press statement. "We're eager to break that pattern with this new edition of<em> </em>Pacific Standard Time as we collectively explore nothing less than two fundamental modes of understanding the world and the powerful and surprising ways they connect." </p>

In a larger sense, it charts the way Southern California architects threw off the influence of establishmen Modernism and helped remake the profession in that decade.</p></em><br /><br /><p>Packed with mostly small-scale work by artists Judy Chicago, Billy Al Bengston, Robert Smithson, Ed Moses and architects Robert Venturi, Denise Scott Brown, Charles Moore, Cesar Pelli and Frank Gehry, among many others, it is easily the most surprising and opinionated of the exhibitions to open as part of the Getty L.A. architecture series "Pacific Standard Time Presents."</p>

It was funded in part by a Getty Foundation grant of $445,000. No other single show in the PSTP series received a grant as large, according to a Getty press release. A 272-page catalog, co-published by Rizzoli, is already complete.</p></em><br /><br /><p>
Facing delays in finishing the installation of the show, the show will be canceled, or, at best, delayed.</p>

The good news is that Ice Cube's celebration of Ray and Charles Eames is totally real. A rep for PST tells us this ad is "an unapproved rough concept" that was leaked, but she adds that "The ads for the campaign featuring Ice Cube and Eames will be released in the coming weeks."</p></em><br /><br /><p>
