Çanakkale Antenna Tower pierces sky in western Turkey

IND [Inter.National.Design] in collaboration with Powerhouse Company have commenced construction on its Çanakkale Antenna Tower based in Çanakkale, Turkey. The structure will function as a broadcast network post as well as a public observation center. Formulated as a cultural landmark, the antenna tower's design includes recreational facilities and a looped path that integrates itself into the surrounding forest, giving visitors an immersive experience on the lower levels and expansive panoramic views on the upper levels.

Already under construction, the red looped antenna pierces the western Turkey sky and will surely plant itself as a destination point for locals and tourists alike. The tower is expected to be completed later this year.

Winning results of the Çanakkale Antenna Tower competition in Turkey

Results are out for the Çanakkale Antenna Tower competition, Turkey's first international competition since 1997. After being shortlisted in Stage Two, Powerhouse Company & IND (Inter.National.Design) won 1st Prize out of 8 finalist teams, including renowned names like Sou Fujimoto and Snøhetta. The city's government plans to have the 100-meter broadcasting tower completed in 2015. The Colloquium and Award Ceremony will take place on March 15 in Çanakkale.

Snøhetta, Sou Fujimoto and others shortlisted in Çanakkale Antenna Tower competition

The Turkish Çanakkale Antenna Tower International Competition has announced eight firms that passed the pre-selection hurdle and can now proceed to the second stage for design development. The jury selected the finalists from a pool of 130 eligible applicants. The teams will now have until February 15, 2014 to submit their design proposals.
