Admission deadlines for Fall 2024 architecture programs are quickly approaching. If you're looking to pursue a Bachelor's degree, Master's, or Ph.D. program in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or a one-year Post Graduate degree, Archinect's School Partners offer a comprehensive list of upcoming information sessions and open houses (both in-person and online) to help with your applications.

A couple of weeks ago we looked at the importance of tailoring your resume to a particular job opportunity. While a resume provides a brief picture of your experience, a portfolio presents a tangible proof of your ability. Today, we'll look at one overarching principle that can work as a measuring stick for all of the decisions you make as you create your application package. When it comes to your work samples, you want to do your best to capitalize on your opportunities to show your work.

Call for Entries: Archinect UK Portfolio Competition 2017

Archinect UK is launching a nationwide portfolio competition for 2017. This award aims to celebrate and promote the exceptional talent, vision and innovation of UK Architects, Interior Architects, Landscape and Urban designers.

The competition will be managed online via Archinect’s unique community profiles section, with the winners invited to exhibit at Interiors Educators Freerange show, the largest exhibition of architecture and interior design graduates in the UK.

There will be a range of categories and a prestigious judging panel of professionals from the architecture & design industry whom we will be introducing here on Archinect shortly. Winners will be announced in conjunction with the IE awards on the evening of July 14th , with events and talks throughout the rest of the show.

2015 Architectural League Prize "Authenticity" winners to lecture and exhibit next month

The Architectural League of New York announced a new set of winners for the 2015 Architectural League Prize, considered to be one of North America's most prestigious awards for young practitioners. North America-based Architects and designers out of school 10 years or less are invited every year to submit the best of their portfolios pertaining to the competition's theme.

The 2014-15 Young Architects + Designers Committee — which comprises of previous League Prize winners Carrie Norman, John Rhett Russo, and Jenny Sabin — selected "Authenticity" as this year's competition theme. The theme sought submissions that explore how design, technology, and practice challenge authenticity within architecture, and how authenticity can be treated more as a pursuit that can continuously develop and influence a young designer's practice -- as opposed to a form of validation or as an essential quality.

Nicholas Grimshaw to offer mentorships to emerging architects in Manchester’s NOISE Festival 2014

Every year since 2005, the Manchester-based NOISE Festival gives thousands of aspiring architects the opportunity to get their portfolios recognized by some of the design industry's most well-known names. The nationwide Festival, which takes places online and through exclusive events, showcases undiscovered talent in over 14 categories including Architecture, Design, Illustration, Games, Fashion, Music, Fine Art, and Film.

Among the panel of noteworthy Curators who will judge the submissions, British architect Nicholas Grimshaw of Grimshaw Architects is this year's Architecture Curator. He'll be offering a one-on-one mentorship to five entrants whose submissions he rates the highest.

The Architectural League of New York has announced the six winning young architects and designers of the 2014 "Overlay" Architectural League Prize. As one of North America's most prestigious awards for young practitioners, since 1981 the Prize recognizes provocative and exemplary work and provides a public outlet for the exchange of their ideas.

After The Architectural League and the Young Architects + Designers Committee hosted the portfolio competition, whose theme this year was "Overlay", six winners were invited to publicly present and showcase their work:
