[Justin Gargasz's] designs are created not only to shelter the wearer physically but as a play on the need to escape psychologically from a world filled with distractions.

Justin Gargasz's Sans Shelter line of wearable shelters offers three distinct designs of impromptu-tent jackets, in sleek nylon and waxed canvas models. Using methods of folding and wrapping he picked up while traveling in Northern India, the rather fashionable coats can be unpacked into tents and secured against a tree, fence, bike rack, even the bike itself -- anything rigid and upright -- providing shelter within an otherwise claustrophobic or distracting environment.

It seems that the designs will still rely on tent spikes to retain their turgid structure, but it's a small inconvenience considering the garment's utility and intended scenarios. The focus is on temporary respite more than outdoor ruggedness -- like napping in a city park, or catching some shut eye at a music festival.
