The University of Arizona's School of Architecture hosts the 2019 Architecture Film Festival Tucson

Film has the power to bring people together – or tear them apart, spur conversation, and transform ideas. It is in anticipation of this that the School of Architecture of the University of Arizona College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture presents “Architecture Film Festival Tucson 2019” in conjunction with invited festival Arquitectura Film Festival SANTIAGO / ArqFilmFest 2018. The Chilean festival was founded in 2012 as the first of its kind in Latin America. Its Director, Miguel Contreras, will travel to Tucson for the two-day 2019 festival which will celebrate architecture and urbanism around the world and present an opportunity for discussion of issues in contemporary design.

Pratt Institute hosts Robert Irwin 'Site Determined' exhibition and panel discussion

When Robert Irwin: Site Determined opened last year at the University Art Museum, California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), it was the first museum exhibition dedicated to the creative process of one of the most significant American artists of the postwar generation. The visitor is invited to explore four decades of Irwin’s outdoor environmental projects through rarely exhibited drawings and architectural models.

Site-determined art, Irwin has explained, “draws all of its cues (reasons for being) from its surroundings.” This exhibition promises insights into Irwin’s working process as he developed aesthetic responses to such cues, including his Window Wall on the CSULB campus, Central Garden at the J. Paul Getty Center in Los Angeles, and his most recent site-determined work, Untitled (dawn to dusk), in Marfa, Texas. Archinect's Get Lectured is back in session! Get Lectured is an ongoing series where we feature a school's lecture series—and their snazzy posters—for the current term. Check back frequently to keep track of any upcoming lectures you don't want to miss.

For the next poster, the University of Southern California School of Architecture shared the details of their "Skin + Bones" lecture series, accompanying the Spring '15 Skin + Bones third-year studio project.

Each lecture invites a prominent specialist within the LA design community to instigate a disciplinary (rather than technical) discussion about the relationship between form, structure, and skin in their work.

The Nocturnal Face of Architecture: AWP's "Vers un climat" exhibit opens this month

Cities can transform into an entirely new place once it's nighttime, sometimes to the point of disorientation that you wonder if you're still in the same city. The upcoming "Vers un climat: Building (With) The Unstable" exhibit at Cornell University presented by award-winning interdisciplinary practice AWP explores the alluring atmosphere of the urban nightscape to illustrate how structures can evolve, change, and perform as active participants in our cities.

"Vers un climat" is based on years of in-depth research by AWP founders Marc Armengaud, Matthias Armengaud, and Alessandra Cianchetta, who continuously explore how intangible elements like climate, time, and light affect architectural design.
