What happens to the MoMA PS1 Young Architecture Program pavilions after Warm Up is Over?

For nearly two decades, the Young Architect's Program (YAP) has brought both young and established talent to MoMA PS1's courtyard to form a welcome space for overheated crowds that often interact with the work during the institution's popular Warm Up series [...] So what happens to the pavilions and their creators once the DJs pack up their gear, the throngs of people leave, and the summer is over?

Artnet news looked at the afterlife of some of YAP pavilions that have graced the MoMA PS1 courtyard in Queens. Here's a quick summary of some of the featured anecdotes:

SHoP Architects "Dunescape," 2000

SHoP Architects, the firm behind the recently-inaugurated Barclays Center in Brooklyn, designed "Dunescape" comprising cedar structures that you could climb over and in. At the end of the summer, the wood was donated to a trade school where it used for woodworking practice.

The Broad Museum might not be the only new museum to be built in Downtown Los Angeles. Announced last year, L.A. property developer Tom Gilmore and Tom Wiscombe seem to be making progress towards the Old Bank District Museum, a new contemporary art and design museum that will house the works of locally based artists. Located in the Old Bank District, the OBDM will interweave through three interconnected buildings along Main and Fourth Streets: the Bank House Garage, the Farmers and Merchants Bank, and the Hellman Building.

According to previous reports, Gilmore and his business partner Jerri Perrone will fund the initial construction, and start construction documents by this year. Completion of the project is currently slated for 2017.

Moscow New NCCA Entry by Tom Wiscombe Design

Earlier today, we published the ten shortlisted firms which qualified to move on to stage 2 of the international architectural competition for the new National Center for Contemporary Arts (New NCCA) in Moscow, Russia. The entry by Los Angeles-based Tom Wiscombe Design didn't quite make the list, but we are happy to present it here to a wider audience.
