Get Lectured: Pratt Institute, Fall '24

The Pratt School of Architecture has shared its public lecture information as part of our Fall 2024 Get Lectured look at what’s in store for the new academic year.

The action begins with a panel discussion on the life and work of pioneering architect Debora Reiser on September 12th, followed by another concerning the 17 U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on September 18.

Another conversation with Lydia Kallipoliti on September 19th on 'Our Dirty Footprint' precedes the start of Climate Week NYC, which ends in the September 30 conversation 'Design Advocated' featuring Michael K. Chen and five other practitioners. Alejandro Echeverri presents a lecture on equitable design efforts in his hometown of Medellín on October 10. Following that, a conversation on the intersection of artificial intelligence and Indigenous design between Dr. Harriet Harriss and Vicki Weiner takes place on October 29.

Get Lectured: UCLA, Fall '24

UCLA Architecture and Urban Design has shared its public speakers and events information for the new academic term as part of our Get Lectured roundup of academic events in the 2024-25 school year.

It all begins with the book launch event for Alfredo Thiermann’s Radio-Activities on October 10, followed by a lecture from Lisa Iwamoto on October 17. The rest of the month includes a lecture from MIT’s Skylar Tibbets (October 24) and a talk featuring Ferda Kolatan’s presentation of his book Misfits & Hybrids: Architectural Artifacts for the 21st-Century City (October 28).

Marion Weiss begins November with a lecture on November 18, followed by lectures from Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu of Neri&Hu (November 25) and Takaharu Tezuka (December 2).

Get Lectured: Clemson University, Fall '24

The Clemson University School of Architecture has shared its Fall 2024 public lectures information as part of our Get Lectured look at the different events taking place over the new academic term.

The first semester of events to kick off the 2024-25 theme ‘Collective’ has already seen lectures from Tenna Florian of Lake|Flato (August 23) and Jonathan Tate of OJT (September 4). The rest of the semester will see Janet Loebach’s Callison Lecture (September 25); Vishaan Chakrabarti (October 2); the Portland, Oregon-based duo Heidi Bebe and Doug Skidmore (October 23); and Jason Griffiths of the University of Nebraska (November 13).

Get Lectured: The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Fall '24

The University of Tennesse, Knoxville College of Architecture + Design has shared its public lecture information for the Fall 2024 academic term.

It all begins next week with Anthony Titus’ lecture, ‘Surface Mining - A Sequel’ on September 9. Following that is a presentation from the 2024 Barber McMurry Professor Javier Sánchez on his practice JSa September 23. A lecture from ARO Principal Kim Yao follows them on September 24. Science fiction artist Lucy McRae stops by for another lecture on October 28, preceding the semester’s final lecture from the newly named 2024 Richard Neutra Award winner Mark Lee of Johnston Marklee on November 18.

The exhibition Regional Globalism in the Tennessee Valley also runs from November 3 through December 4 curated by Assistant Professor Micah Rutenberg.

The Harvard GSD has shared its Fall 2024 public lectures series as part of our Get Lectured roundup of events taking place across the academic spectrum in the new semester.

The exciting lineup begins with professor Eric Höweler's presentation 'Clay: Pedagogy and Practice' on September 9 followed by Chelina Odbert's Margaret McCurry Lectureship in the Design Arts on September 12. Following that, the Senior Loeb Scholar Lecture featuring Malkit Shoshan, Tatiana Bilbao, and Elke Krasny will take place on September 24. Signe Nielsen closes the month with her presentation 'Parks and Monuments: A Cultural Evolution' on September 26.

October begins with a flourish when the 2021 Wheelwright Prize winner Germane Barnes returns to Cambridge to deliver his lecture 'Where This Flower Blooms' on October 7. A new semester is in gear, and today we’re adding Syracuse University to our Get Lectured roundup of the various events and speaking series taking place in the Fall.

September will include lectures from Sekou Cooke (September 5); Swati Chattopadhyay (September 12); Li Han and Hu Yan of China's Drawing Architecture Studio (September 17); Jiwon Shin (September 20); and a conversation on recent book publications with Anooradha Iyer Siddiqi (September 23).

Today, our Get Lectured series continues with a look at the events and speakers coming to the UNLV School of Architecture this Fall semester.

The school notes this semester’s presentations will be tethered to the question, What’s next and where to from here? Fall speakers include architects Cedric Schaerer (September 10); Ken Yeang (September 17); Andrew Waugh (October 8); Luciano Landaeta (October 15); and Winka Dubbeldam (October 22).

The Fall semester has started and that means it’s time for a look at the events and lectures taking place on campus as part of our Get Lectured series. Today, we’ll make a stop by the University of Southern California School of Architecture.

Olafur Eliasson and Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) director Johanna Burton kick things off with a conversation on September 9, followed by Lorcan O'Herlihy on September 11 and Marlon Blackwell on September 13. Dean Brett Steele gives his State of the School address on September 27, followed by lectures from Sadie Morgan (October 1); Lisa Little (October 16); Bea Martin (October 18); and Tatiana Bilbao (October 28).

October continues with a visit from Eui-Sung Yi on October 30. The next month includes lectures from Lawrence Scarpa (November 13); Jesse Reiser (November 15); and Anupama Kundoo (November 22). The semester culminates with a symposium on the Getty Museum's PST Art exhibition, Material Acts.

Get Lectured continues today with a look at the events happening in the Fall semester at the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design.

September’s slate of lecturers includes Pezo von Ellrichshausen (September 4); Aislinn Pentecost-Farren (September 13); Sue Anne Kahn (September 18); Derek Hyra (September 19); the Urban Heritage Project (September 25); Lina Gothmeh (September 25); and Jonathan Oliveras (September 26).

Get Lectured: University of Hong Kong, Fall '24

The fall semester is almost upon us, and to go with it, the University of Hong Kong has shared its public programs information to kick off our annual Get Lectured events roundup for the 2024-25 academic year.

The ‘Good Life’ series begins with the Atelier Bow-Wow co-founder Momoyo Kaijima on September 12. She is followed by Harvard GSD dean Sarah M. Whiting on September 17. Columbia GSAPP dean Andrés Jacque follows on September 24. Next year’s Venice Architecture Biennale curator Carlo Ratti follows him for a lecture on (what else?) SENSEABLE CITIES on September 26.

The popular sculptor Danh Vo will speak on October 31, preceding a lecture from e-flux journal co-founder Nikolaus Hirsch on December 3. Another by Beatriz Colomina concludes the term on December 5. All events take place in Knowles Hall and will begin at 6:30 PM unless otherwise listed.
