Napur Architect to design Budapest's new Museum of Ethnography in competition reboot

Deemed as one of Europe's largest museum projects, the ambitious Liget Budapest Project is gradually piecing itself together, now that the architects for the multi-structure project have been selected. Most recently, Hungarian practice Napur Architect is the new winning designer of the Museum of Ethnography, while Sauerbruch Hutton and BIG won second and third place, respectively.

RIBA announces 30 projects selected for International Prize

The 30 buildings to be visited by the RIBA awards committee and under consideration for the inaugural RIBA International Prize have been announced today. This is the first RIBA award open to any qualified architect in the world and includes projects of varying size and budget.

Consequently the buildings span 20 different countries across the globe such as; Mexico, Turkey, Dublin and Vietnam. The selected projects will be whittled down to 20 and then a final six in the autumn, with the winner announced in December 2016.

The six finalist chosen will be visited by the Grand Jury which includes Richard Rogers, Billie Tsien and Marilyn Jordan Taylor FAIA among others.

Top three teams prep for final design presentation of MLK Library renovation

The historic Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington D.C. is one step closer to finding the architectural team for its major renovation project -- and competition is stiff [...] After submitting their proposals, the top three teams will have one final presentation to persuade the review panel and the public this Saturday, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. in the MLK Library's Great Hall.

Team 1: Mecanoo + Martinez and Johnson

Team 2: Patkau + Ayers Saint Gross

Shortlist for D.C.‘s MLK Library renovation narrowed down to 3 teams

Three finalist teams have advanced into the last round of the search for an architect to renovate — or possibly redesign — Washington D.C.'s Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. Back in October, the competition had already narrowed down the list of applicants to 10 teams with the invitation to create technical proposals on how they would approach renovating the Mies van der Rohe-designed library.

The three finalists are:

Patkau Architects / Ayers Saint Gross with Krueck + Sexton
Martinez + Johnson Architects / Mecanoo Architects
STUDIOS Architecture / The Freelon Group

Patkau Architects chosen to design new Presentation House Gallery in Vancouver

Vancouver-based Patkau Architects has been chosen to design Presentation House Gallery's new home at the foot of Lonsdale Ave. One of Canada’s most notable architectural firms, Patkau's buildings include the Beaty Biodiversity Museum in Vancouver and the new School of Art at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, currently under construction.
