Called Haggett Hall, the facility stands nine stories and will house 800 students. The project finalizes a critical component of the University’s decade-long initiative to develop its North Campus and support more students living on campus.</p>

Called the Upper Science Hill Development (USHD), the 611,000-square-foot complex will be one of Yale’s largest and most complex building projects ever undertaken.</p>
<p>Located in the Science Hill precinct, the complex will add a publicly accessible series of landscape spaces to foster pedestrian and cyclist circulation on the campus.</p>
<p>The structure is designed to fit the topography of its urban and natural surroundings. As detailed by the architects, vibration control is one of the primary design drivers for quantum science facilities. Therefore, USHD’s sloping site, which is close to bedrock, was chosen for its strong vibration stability.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/150339815/deborah-berke-partners-designs-a-new-all-electric-hybrid-steel-and-cross-laminated-timber-residential-hall-for-brown-university" target="_blank">Brook Street Residence Halls project</a> is part of the university’s plan to expand its on-campus housing offerings and was completed using a hybrid steel and <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/134886/cross-laminated-timber" target="_blank">cross-laminated timber</a> structure. Brown says their realization creates an important new connection to the east side's Fox Point neighborhood, adding to its capacity to interface with the community of Providence while likewise maintaining its holistic sustainability strategy.</p>

<p>Located near the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Barnes Foundation, the Rodin Museum, the courthouse building was originally built in 1941. The design from TenBerke will recreate the structure as a 200-room hotel with help from <a href="https://archinect.com/beyerblinderbelle" target="_blank">Beyer Blinder Belle</a>, Studio & Projects, and <a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/93230768/hood-design-studio" target="_blank">Hood Design Studio</a>. A team including Hood, <a href="https://archinect.com/morrisadjmiarchitects" target="_blank">Morris Adjmi Architects</a>, and <a href="https://archinect.com/jaklitschgardner" target="_blank">Jaklitsch/Gardner Architects</a> will join them in delivering the AAMP’s new facilities at 1901 Wood Street. An expansion of the Free Library of Philadelphia’s Parkway Central branch is a component of the scheme as well.</p>

<p>The scope of the new Haggett Hall project encompasses a 200,000-square-foot residential hall with 800 beds and a fitness center located in the North Campus neighborhood of UW, which is currently undergoing a <a href="https://hfs.uw.edu/UH4-project#:~:text=This%20project%20enables%20a%20new,will%20increase%20by%20152%20apartments." target="_blank">housing-focused transformation</a>. </p>
<p>The firm’s first-ever West Coast project will incorporate its surroundings on an acre-and-a-half site on the periphery of campus and a woodland area. The project will be delivered using an “integrated design-build process” with Anderson Construction as its lead contractor and using the findings of a student engagement process that began in May. </p>

<p>“The number ten speaks of multiples and unity, a reflection of the creative collective who form TenBerke,” the firm said <a href="https://tenberke.com/2023/04/18/tenberke-renews-commitment-to-an-ethics-based-practice/" target="_blank">in a statement</a>. “The name evokes the Powers of Ten: Our duty as designers to look at the biggest picture and the finest detail. And simply, we like ten because it’s a handy number — a human measure.”</p>
