The most popular '22/23 architecture lecture poster vote goes to...

The votes are in for your favorite Fall '22 and Spring '23 architecture school lecture posters featured in Archinect's Get Lectured series. Which five posters racked up the top votes?

The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture took the top prizes for their Fall '22 and Spring '23 lecture poster designs. The team behind their Fall poster shared that they utilized Midjourney to help create the visual theme, which can be seen in both posters. Third place went to the University of Illinois Chicago School of Architecture's Spring '23 poster, followed by a fourth-place tie from the University of Milwaukee School of Architecture & Urban Planning and their Fall '22 and Spring '23 lecture posters.

Also among the top ten poster designs in the online popularity contest were Thomas Jefferson University, UCLA, University of Colorado at Denver, Washington University in St. Louis, East Los Angeles College, and Syracuse University.

It's time to let Archinect readers judge the graphic prowess of architecture schools again as they have showcased their lecture and public events programming in our ongoing Get Lectured series.

As we prepare for the upcoming Fall term, which Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 lecture poster will win the top spot for our latest popularity vote?

In our last poll, Boston Architectural College's Spring 2021 poster took home the first prize, followed by the University of Toronto's Winter/Spring poster winning second place, and Woodbury University taking the third and fourth spots for their Spring and Fall poster submissions.

Voting closes on Monday, August 28, at 5:30 p.m. Pacific Time. The lecture posters with the most votes will be announced on Friday, September 1. Have fun!

Get Lectured: East Los Angeles College, Spring '23

Archinect’s Get Lectured series continues today with a look at the late semester goings-on happening this spring at East Los Angeles College's (ELAC) Department of Architecture in Monterey Park.

Events continue on April 28 with a visit from Universidad Iberoamericana professor Denise Luna. She will be followed by SCI-Arc faculty member and undergraduate programs char Marcelyn Gow, who will speak on May 5. DOSU Principal and USC School of Architecture associate professor Doris Sung will come to campus to conclude the semester on May 19.

Each event takes place online at 12pm and can be accessed via Zoom.

Get Lectured: Thomas Jefferson University, Spring '23

This week we are continuing the Get Lectured series with a look at the events still on the docket this semester at the College of Architecture & the Built Environment at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

This semester has brought speakers like Shawn Evans and Garron Yepa of the MASS Design Group, current NOMA President Pascale Sablan, and alumni and HDR principal Sara Gally, among others.

The school shares: "The College of Architecture and the Built Environment’s 2022-23 Lecture Series is titled “Regenerate.” By definition, to regenerate implies future action. It means to form or create again; to be spiritually reborn or converted; and to restore to a better, higher, more worthy state. This theme, Regenerate, encourages voices that not only envision and strategize, but move forward in building new narratives of open and interactive design processes, community coherence, and civic and spatial opportunities to the CABE Lecture Series."

Get Lectured: The Ohio State University, Spring '23

Today, Archinect is continuing our Get Lectured series with a look at the events taking place this semester on the campus of the Knowlton School of Architecture at the Ohio State University in Columbus.

The spring has already seen appearances from Charles Renfro, Craig Dykers, Elissa Iturbe, Deanna van Buren, and Todd Gannon as part of the Baumer Lecture series, which will continue with UNC Chapel Hill professor Nichola Lowe on March 22 followed by a visit from Georgia Tech’s Catherine Ross on March 29.

The next month will see the continuation of the Baumer series with a lecture from Seattle-based GGN Associate Azzurra Cox on April 5. Her visit precedes the series’ conclusion with a presentation from the school’s 2022-23 LeFevre Fellow Georgina Baronian on April 21.

Get Lectured: Pratt Institute, Spring '23

Our Archinect Get Lectured series continues today with a look at the remaining events taking place this spring at the Pratt School of Architecture.

The semester has already included presentations from Kenneth Frampton on February 1 and several symposiums such as the Black Live(s) and Black Space(s): Care, Community Housing event on February 23, the Investing in Black Brooklyn event on February 27, Branching the Civic event on March 9, and Community Planning and Progress toward Economic Democracy symposium on March 10.

A book talk on the topic of water politics in Francoist Spain featuring author Ana Amado will take place on March 20 followed by the Condensations: Designing in Water Conference from March 23 thru March 25.

Our Get Lectured series continues today with a look at what’s going on this semester at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) School of Architecture.

"This spring, the UIC School of Architecture continues building a new rhythm of in-person public programming," the institution shares.

Events began on February 16 with Paul Andersen’s lecture on the Boston-based studio French 2D. On March 6, writer and recent Harvard GSD graduate Jeffrey Nesbit’s presentation titled "NASA and the Enclosed World" with present a lecture with respondent Francesco Marullo. March 31 welcomes writer and critic Kate Wagner for the school's student choice lecture.

Today, our Get Lectured series continues with a list of events and lectures happening at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s School of Architecture & Urban Planning this spring.

The semester starts on February 22 with a visit from Dapham Maraoane of The Architecture Lobby hosted by Architectural Activism Fellow Sam Schuermann. The next week includes a look at downtown placemaking (including the vaunted Deer District by Gensler) on February 28.

Bernheimer Architecture’s Christopher Beck comes to campus on March 8 to speak at another event hosted by Schuermann. Princeton University Assistant Professor Erin Besler follows on March 10 to discuss her recent award-winning work as co-founder of Besler & Sons. Finally, the month concludes with the HGA Firm Leadership Panel hosted again by Schuermann on March 22.

Get Lectured: New Jersey Institute of Technology, Spring '23

Our Archinect Get Lectured series continues today with a look at the goings-on on campus at the New Jersey Institute of Technology's Hillier College of Architecture and Design this spring.

The school shares: “Since 2007, an endowment established with the American Institute of Architects New Jersey Chapter (AIANJ) has increased the breadth of the lecture series by allowing for the establishment of the AIANJ Endowed Lecture each April and a symposium each fall.”

The semester has already seen a visit from Princeton University professor and Atelier Office Principal Mitch McEwen on January 30. Events will continue on February 20 when Texas Tech University’s Ersela Kripa comes to campus to discuss her work with AGENCY. As the Spring term unfolds, Archinect is looking at all the exciting events at architecture schools nationwide with our Get Lectured series. Today we look at events and speakers coming to Syracuse University’s School of Architecture this semester beginning with South Korean critic Jooeun Sung, who visited campus on January 24 to speak about notions of empathy and values as they relate to architecture.

Desegregation activist and Biden Administration appointee Sara Bronin on January 26. Following Bronin’s visit precedes a guest lecture from historian and preservation specialist Jeffrey A. “Free” Harris on February 3, sponsored by the school’s National Organization of Minority Architecture Students (NOMAS) chapter. His appearance will be followed by an alumni panel discussion on February 10, and a presentation in New York City from Harvard GSD faculty member Ruo Jia on February 13.

This week, we are continuing our Get Lectured series with a look at the big names coming to The Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis in the Spring 2023 semester for what promises to be a packed slate of public lectures and events.

The month kicks off with Mario Gooden’s February 6 lecture on his practice and recent high-profile designs, followed by a visit from photographer and digital artist Al-An deSouza on February 8. The new semester is upon us, and Archinect is continuing with our Get Lectured series with a look at the Carnegie Mellon School of Architecture’s public programs for the Spring of 2023.

The school shares that this term’s theme revolves around an examination of “extractivism” and the role architects play in shaping “material economies.” Events began on January 23 with a virtual lecture from DNA Architects founder Xu Tiantian. His appearance was followed on January 30 with a student-led discussion on the topic of urban ecology. The spring semester is unfolding, and we are continuing with Archinect's Get Lectured series, today highlighting the USC School of Architecture’s list of guest lecturers and presenters for their Spring 2023 public programs.

Events began on January 23 with a visit from AGENCY’s Ersela Kripa, and distinguished Washington University in St. Louis professor Ian Bogost will close the month today, January 30, with a lecture about his use of video game design to touch on various political topics, including airport security, consumer debt, the oil and gas industry, pandemic, and tort reform.

Continuing with Archinect's Get Lectured series, we highlight Harvard University's Graduate School of Design (GSD) list of guest lecturers and presenters for their Spring 2023 public programs.

The lectures kick off Tuesday, January 31, with a visit from Landprocess founder Kotchakorn Voraakhom. Her lecture will be followed on February 2 by Yung Ho Chang’s presentation titled ‘Form, Content, and Total Design.’ February 7 will bring architect Stan Allen to campus, followed by a lecture on February 9 from Ecuadorian architect Ana María Durán Calisto. The University of Texas at Austin's Spring lineup of public events and lectures is kicking off our 2023 Get Lectured series with visits from speakers who will "address contemporary topics like housing, social equity, and the impact of technology on our fields."

On January 18, the school welcomes Dwayne Oyler and Jenny Wu of Oyler Wu Collaborative. January 23 brings a lecture from Tod Williams of Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects. February 8 will host a lecture by Michael Hsu of Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, followed by a lecture from Alex Swender on February 10 and a lecture from Alex Joseph of PARTISANS on February 13.

Lorcan O’Herlihy of Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects will present his lecture on March 8, followed by Ross Altheimer and Maura Rockcastle of TEN x TEN Studio, who will give a lecture on March 27.
