The program entails adding a six-story, 50,000-square-foot residential component above the now 20,000-square-foot library, which is expanded to twice its original size. The new building stands at eight stories in total, topped by a 45-kW rooftop PV array.</p> <figure><p><a href="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/3d/3d7389fd6fd344808afbffb62f8fa46e.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;w=1028" target="_blank"><img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/3d/3d7389fd6fd344808afbffb62f8fa46e.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;w=514"></a></p><figcaption>Image courtesy Brooklyn Public Library</figcaption></figure><p>&ldquo;The Sunset Park Library and Apartments is a crowning achievement that tackles essential community needs and affordable living at a time when New York must urgently address its housing crisis. The design team says it was directed by the city&rsquo;s relatively low park-to-person ratio in the selection of form, materials, and the arrangement of public spaces in and around the 142,000-square-foot structure. Overall, some 45% of the site will include landscaped public spaces punctuated by the building's oval footprint.</p> <figure><figure><a href="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/f4/f4dccbb350c3d7c1ec3986da3177d89d.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;w=1028" target="_blank"><img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/f4/f4dccbb350c3d7c1ec3986da3177d89d.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;w=514"></a><figcaption>Image courtesy Formline, Chevalier Morales, and Archi...</figcaption></figure></figure>
