<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/89/89d3abdefa8d397ed1e86cc82157eaa4.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p>The <a href="https://www.jsonline.com/story/money/real-estate/commercial/2024/08/05/bronzeville-center-for-the-arts-names-hip-hop-museum-firm-as-architect/74673020007/" target="_blank"><em>Milwaukee Journal Sentinel</em></a> is reporting that Hip Hop Architect <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/930564/michael-ford" target="_blank">Michael Ford</a> will design the city’s new Bronzeville Center for the Arts for 2028. The 50,000-square-foot, $54.9 million project is set to take shape at a 3.4-acre former state Department of Natural Resources office with design and technical support from <a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/2746/hga" target="_blank">HGA</a>. </p>
<p>The project, which follows Ford and <a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/150309492/brandnu-design" target="_blank">BrandNu Design Studio</a>'s work on the new <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/2062102/universal-hip-hop-museum" target="_blank">Hip Hop Museum</a> in the South Bronx, New York, is meant to serve as the first home for the BCA after its formation in 2020. The firm's founder says the scope of his design will "both represent the rich history of the neighborhood and forecast its future."</p>

<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/bc/bcf61aeb32fb841462cc9e8d88b944d3.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p>A new <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/1038570/mass-timber" target="_blank">mass timber</a> academic design for Bowdoin College from <a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/2746/hga" target="_blank">HGA</a> has been unveiled for the first time following the project’s completion earlier this year in Brunswick, Maine.</p>
<p>The Barry Mills Hall and the John and Lile Gibbons Center for Arctic Studies project called for the construction of two opposing asymmetrical structures totaling 46,000 square feet to be used as educational and art exhibition spaces for students on the 207-acre campus.</p>

According to the design team, the largely concrete site will be converted into a “civic and soulful green gathering space that can be used by everyone, including employees and the local community.”</p>

<p>In one direction, The Hub will provide views of the original brick Harley-Davidson manufacturing buildings, while in the other, the space will provide views of a park filled with 120 native plant species and a planned market street, contemplative garden, and nature playground.</p>

<p>The approximately $700 million project will anchor a redesigned west end of the <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/24889/campus" target="_blank">campus</a>. The building is being accompanied by extensive site improvements in the surrounding area and a new hospital planned for the east end of the Parnassus Heights campus. Together, these projects are part of phase one of the Comprehensive Parnassus Heights Plan, a sweeping multi-decade <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/230693/revitalization" target="_blank">revitalization</a> of the campus. </p>
<p>The PRAB project will replace UC Hall, UCSF’s oldest building at Parnassus Heights, which was built in 1917.
