Tyler School of Art and Architecture Fall ’24 events feature Eric Höweler, Masafumi Yukimoto, FIFTEEN, & Petra Kuppers

The Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University has shared its Fall speakers and events information as part of our look at what our Archinect Partner Schools have planned in the first half of the 2024-25 year.

Heather Davis begins the term with the first Critical Dialogue series presentation, a look at her new title Plastic Matter on September 17th. FIFTEEN Architecture + Design’s Katrina Connors and Ximena Valle will follow with a September 18th presentation titled ‘The Time is Now’ before the ‘Spatial Practice Within Contested Geographies’ forum closes the week on September 19th at 6:00 pm.

Tyler School of Art and Architecture presents Learning to See: Denise Scott Brown exhibition through September 18, 2021

This summer, Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University presents Learning to See : Denise Scott Brown, an immersive show examining Denise Scott Brown’s defining views on architecture and urbanism understood through her photographs of cities and landscapes taken throughout her life, and largely during the 1960s and 1970s.

The exhibition is open to the public through September 18, 2021.

Denise Scott Brown, who has based her architectural practice in Philadelphia since the late 1960s, says, “I have never thought of myself as a photographer, only an architect and urbanist, but for seven decades I have taken photographs and use photography to illustrate the ideas behind what I teach, design and write. These reflect so much of who I am.”

Temple University's Rashida Ng elected ACSA president

Rashida Ng, chair of the Department of Architecture & Environmental Design at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University has been elected as the new president of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) for the 2019-2020 year.

Professor Ng, according to a press release announcing her selection, will "work to advance architectural pedagogy by coordinating with the discipline’s accreditation, licensing, and education communities, all of which are vital to student learning and development."

Remarking on the election, Professor Ng stated via an announcement, “The year ahead is an important one—ACSA is launching new initiatives to support research and teaching, as well as retooling its annual meeting to reach more faculty and practitioners in architecture. We will also be supporting schools during the release of the 2020 [NAAB] accreditation standards. We are committed to increasing access and supporting the retention of students from disadvantaged...
