This year the program received the highest number of project entries in its history. According to RIBA, 336 entries were nominated by 118 schools of architecture across 32 countries.&nbsp;</p> <p><a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/150175724/royal-institute-of-british-architects" target="_blank">RIBA</a> President Alan Jones shares, "I am inspired by the range of exceptional proposals with climate emergency, ethics, equity, and social purpose at the heart of their investigation and problem-solving. The RIBA President's Medals continue to acknowledge work of the highest caliber and technical and social relevance, essential to future architects wishing to tackle our global challenges. This is the first time the award will be put on hold since the first Stirling Prize was awarded to the Centenary Building at the University of Salford by Hodder + Partners in 1996. The institution also adds that judging for the regional and national awards will be canceled and moved to 2021.&nbsp;</p> <p>RIBA adds, "all projects which have already been shortlisted for a 2020 RIBA Regional Award will be included in our 2021 RIBA Awards, which will open for entries shortly."</p>
