The Design Museum of London aims to bring art and design into your home with their new Digital Design Museum Calendar

Online courses, activities, and programming have increased as the globe adjusts to this "new normal" of social distancing measures and safety precautions amid the current pandemic. However, museums across the globe have shifted their efforts towards bringing art to the homes of millions of patrons.

On April 1st, the Design Museum announced the launch of their new Digital Design Calendar of online content. According to a press statement by the museum, "new digital calendar includes lesson plans and activities for children at home with the Young Design Museum program, a series of ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions for adults in new Learn with the DesignMuseum series and a roster of Instagram Lives with leading designers called #DesignDispatches."

A design competition to help redesign New York's Brooklyn Bridge promotes creativity and digital collaboration!

In light of the widespread disruption caused by the COVID-19 crisis, we have extended the submission deadline for Reimagining Brooklyn Bridge by two weeks. The new deadline is Sunday, April 19 by 11:59 pm ET.

There is no requirement to work together in person at this stage, and we strongly encourage participating teams to collaborate digitally and follow social distancing guidelines. Architects and fabrication specialists join together to mitigate the COVID-19 medical supply shortage

With news of COVID-19 affecting individuals across the globe, hospitals and medical clinics are experiencing a shortage in supplies such as ventilators, respirators, and personal protective equipment (PPE). However, as news of the virus spreads, design professionals are banning together with medical professionals and engineers to find solutions to the shortage.

Public Facebook groups like Open Source Ventilator have created discussion forums to help brainstorm, share, and prototype various solutions. A report from CNET dives into this coverage and shares which companies are joining the effort. "HP, teeth straightener vendor SmileDirectClub and various other companies are exploring ways to use their 3D-printing technology to build things like ventilator valves, breathing filters, and face mask clasps." Earlier this week, Archinect reported of Italian 3D-printing company Isinnova and their success in designing and printing respirator valves for hospitals in the area.

Service companies, businesses, and individuals must be prepared for continued strain on private and public networks. Brad Kult, HGA's Director of Technology Design & Planning, gives an overview on the increasingly crucial role of technology in order for businesses and schools to continue operating, amid social-distancing efforts to slow down the spread of COVID-19. Kult offers some helpful reminders for businesses who have had to switch to working remotely online, from ensuring your company's infrastructure is ready to support your team remotely and troubleshoot any technical issues that are bound to arise, to the importance of showing empathy and patience as your team adjusts to working differently. Roto Architects offers virtual collaborative tool in light of coronavirus
