It began with a ceremony on September 27th as the "first stone was laid." At the ceremony, speeches and talks by the CEO of S.Pellegrino Sarzi Braga, <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/7054/bjarke-ingels" target="_blank">Bjarke Ingels</a>, and the Mayor of San Pellegrino Terme, Vittorio Millesi, according to a press release from the company.</p> <figure><figure><a href="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/b3/b3b841932a7ae31eb61e435769045046.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;w=1028" target="_blank"><img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/b3/b3b841932a7ae31eb61e435769045046.jpg?auto=compress%2Cformat&amp;w=514"></a><figcaption>Image courtesy of BIG</figcaption></figure></figure><p>Back in 2017, <a href="https://archinect.com/bjarke-ingels-group" target="_blank">BIG</a> won the commission for the innovative factory after competing with three other international firms: <a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/327/mvrdv" target="_blank">MVRDV</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://archinect.com/snohetta" target="_blank">Sn&oslash;hetta</a>, and Architetto Michele De Lucchi.
