Archinect Outpost and A+D Museum to host book launch for Single-Handedly

Join us in celebrating the launch of Single-Handedly: Contemporary Architects Draw by Hand, the latest book by Nalina Moses published by the Princeton Architectural Press. The event will be held at the A+D Museum, with copies of the book sold at Archinect Outpost, on Saturday, June 29th, from 6-7pm. Our address is 900 East 4th Street, Los Angeles CA 90029.

The panel will start at 6, and will feature book contributors Bryan Cantley, Rick Gooding, Dwayne Oyler, Frank Escher and Nalina Moses. The event is hosted by Princeton Architectural Press, the A+D Museum, Archinect and Blick Art Materials, which will be providing gift bags for guests.

A collective of architects has started a petition requesting equal recognition of Doriana Fuksas, wife and partner of Massimiliano Fuksas

A number of architects are seeking justice for the exclusion of Doriana Fuksas in the recent recognition given to her husband and business partner at Studio Fuksas, Massimiliano Fuksas, for a Lifetime Achievement Award from INARCH Istituto Nazionale di Architettura.

The initiative has been spearheaded by architects Louise Braverman, Caroline James and Francesca Perani on behalf of Italian activistsRebelArchitette and VOW Architects. The petition currently has over 450 supporters, including Massimiliano Fuksas, Denise Scott Brown, Rem Koolhaas, Paola Antonelli, Beatriz Colomina, Gisue Hariri, Toshiko Mori and Bjarke Ingels.

WUHO's new video exhibition explores recent work of Studio Fuksas

Next Saturday, October 7 Woodbury University Hollywood Outpost will launch its second show of the Fall 2017 series. In line with the gallery's ambition to "demystify the discipline of architecture", the exhibition will present five videos that document the most recent and iconic projects of Studio Fuksas, a dynamic duo Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas based in Rome, Italy.

Studio Fuksas will stay on view through Sunday, October 29, 2017. Gallery hours: Thursdays 1:00–8:00 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays 1:00–6:00 p.m.

Studio Fuksas designs the New Rome/EUR Convention Centre, the largest building built in Rome in over 50 years

EUR, a business district in Rome developed in the 1930’s under the dictatorship of Benito Mussolini, is filled with the heroic modernism, otherwise known as Rationalism, of the Fascist era. Now the area will host a new building designed to echo the stark geometry of its context. The €239 million New Rome/EUR Convention Centre, which is designed by Studio Fuksas, is the largest building built in the Eternal City in over 50 years, and is expected to bring in €300-400 million per year to the city.

Within the main, large rectangular structure, “The Cloud” comprises an organic shape that will contain an auditorium. Adjacent to the main space is “The Blade”, a tall tower housing a new hotel.

FUKSAS wins Chengdu Tianfu Cultural and Performance Centre competition

Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas have won the international competition for the construction of the first cultural center in the city of Chengdu. This city is the capital of Sichuan province and was hit by a terrible earthquake in 2008.

Studio Fuksas has other projects still going on in China and precisely in Shenzhen: the Guosen Tower and the Terminal 3 of the Bao'an International Airport that will be completed by next summer. Besides these projects Studio FUKSAS is preparing to realize this new one in the People’s Republic of China whose worth is 1 billion and 200 million yuan (150 million euro). The cultural complex consists of four buildings of elliptical shape with a spiral structure. The design concept is inspired by ancient symbol of the city of Chengdu (a circle with a sun with rays spiral) and demonstrates the willingness of the Chinese community to look at the future, focusing on art and culture.

Fuksas chosen to redesign LA's Beverly Center

Beating out shortlisted competition including John Friedman Alice Kimm and Brooks+Scarpa, Italian firm Studio Fuksas has been awarded the commission to revamp the Beverly Center, the legendary (not to mention, ahem, aesthetically challenging) high end shopping mall in Beverly Hills.
