Explore SCI-Arc's 2023 Summer Programs for high school students and adults

Registration for SCI-Arc's landmark summer programs Making+Meaning (M+M), Design Immersion Days (DID), and Introduction to Digital Design (IDD) are open.

Open to creative individuals, inspired professionals, and current college students and graduates, Making+Meaning is a four-week career exploration and portfolio-building summer studio program that introduces students to architectural experimentation and transformative design techniques in a unique and lively studio setting.

From July 5 - July 28, 2023, Making+Meaning will expose participants to a wide range of tools and techniques that integrate digital representation, architectural design, and fabrication methods, culminating in a public exhibition where students present their design work and receive feedback from noted architects and design professionals. College students, professionals, and students looking to apply to graduate architecture programs may register.

Making+Meaning 2020 invites students from around the globe to discover design

SCI-Arc has announced that its summer program Making+Meaning will be held online this year. Now open to applicants all around the world, students from across the US, Asia, Europe, and beyond will convene to delve deeply into the most cutting-edge techniques and processes advancing design and architecture today. Making+Meaning is a discovery career program for students that may or may not have any experience in architecture, or want to refine their own technical skillsets or design abilities.

Unlike previous iterations, the program will be divided into two modules, each two weeks long, during which participants will develop interactive content for a design portfolio, all while cultivating a creative community through the exploration of architecture. Upon finishing the program, students will present their design work and receive feedback from renowned architects and design professionals.

The future of architecture and design starts with the youth. SCI-Arc's Design Immersion Days (DID) is an immersive four-week summer program that introduces high school students to architecture and design. Participants are offered the opportunity to explore careers in architecture and design or simply satisfy deep curiosities about how products, buildings, and environments are designed and made. It is intended to inspire curiosity about the world of design, introduce basic design knowledge and critical thinking skills, and familiarize students with the expansive architecture and design culture of Los Angeles.
