<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/66/661c5bb65053f7f5ee236335c6c80221.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p><a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/1740218/2021-chicago-architecture-biennial" target="_blank">The Chicago Architecture Biennial</a> has announced the citywide partner sites and organizations for the 2021 edition of the event. The sites and organizations will host installations, present programs, and collaborate with contributing designers from the Biennial’s opening date on September 17th, 2021.</p>
<p>The partnerships form part of <a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/150234421/chicago-architecture-biennial-announces-2021-theme-the-available-city-david-brown-appointed-artistic-director" target="_blank">Biennial Artistic Director David Brown’s vision for <em>The Available City</em></a><em></em>, which asks how design can identify new forms of shared space in urban areas through collective engagement. Brown selected the partner organizations to highlight a range of innovative approaches and ideas that can transform vacant space into community resources. The partnerships include a former elementary school being turned into a business and technology incubator, a 2-mile stretch of abandoned railways turned into a nature trail, and site-specific installations along the Chicago River.

This year the highly anticipated <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/1132001/salone-del-mobile" target="_blank">Salone del Mobile</a> in Milan was hopeful it would continue with its 2020 programming. Eventually, its board decided to postpone once again and push the date to May 2021. </p>
<p><a href="https://archinect.com/news/article/150191198/2020-salone-del-mobile-milan-postponed-to-april-2021" target="_blank">During our previous coverage of the event</a>, its organizers shared, "the Board ultimately decided they couldn't move forward with that plan in these unprecedented circumstances." However, on November 26th, Claudio Luti (President of the Salone del Mobile) released this statement announcing the official date for the event's 60th edition, September 5 -10, 2021.</p>

With <a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/150091505/studio-es-devlin" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Es Devlin</a> at the helm as artistic director, the Biennale will showcase the responses of over 50 participating countries, cities and territories to the prompt laid out by the notable artist and designer.</p>
<p>"We live in an age of hyper resonance, the consequences of which are both exhilarating and devastating," cautioned Devlin. "Everything we design and everything we produce resonates." </p>
<p>As someone who has created stage sets for the Weeknd, Beyoncé, Adele, and the like, Devlin is well-acquainted with space in the digital era. Known for her artistically and technically ambitious approaches, she regularly harnesses the power of fast-paced technology to grab a mass audience. </p>
