The firm is coming off a banner year in which its $500 million Perelman Performing Arts Center, which features its own unique facade made from marble combined into insulated glazing, won several major honors in <a href="https://archinect.com/news/bustler/9674/rex-weiss-manfredi-and-davis-brody-bond-among-winning-firms-at-the-2024-aia-new-york-design-awards" target="_blank">New York</a> and <a href="https://archinect.com/news/bustler/9704/architecture-and-interiors-honored-among-the-2023-international-design-awards-winners" target="_blank">internationally</a>. The $600 million North Quay project tops out at 37 stories and is scheduled to make its debut in Australia's third-largest city by mid-2025.</p>

<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/b7/b7f4b6d3d1a1427c57292f85a5128520.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p><a href="https://archinect.com/schools/cover/4499800/brown-university" target="_blank">Brown University</a> has shared photos to go along with the inauguration of its new <a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/1887657/rex" target="_blank">REX/Joshua Ramus</a>-designed Lindemann Performing Arts Center tomorrow in Providence, Rhode Island. </p>
<p>The building supports both performance and instruction on campus with an emphasis on creating new forms of collaboration inside a 101,000-square-foot container of flexibly configurable spaces. It combines with the twelve-year-old <a href="https://archinect.com/firms/cover/106441/diller-scofidio-renfro" target="_blank">Diller Scofidio + Renfro</a>-designed Perry and Marty Granoff Center for the Creative Arts next door to create the new Ronald O. Perelman Arts District, which is accessible from Brown’s main The Walk pedestrian corridor and provides the city with an added cultural venue as the university’s footprint within it expands.</p>

The exterior of the almost 100,000 square foot building consists of a large monolithic mass clad in aluminum, with a cantilevered glass-encased 13-foot tall clearstory jutting out from the lobby level, covering a lower-level outdoor public space. </p>

Overlooking the Long Island Sound, the intricately designed 43,500-square-foot project is an ensemble of five private family homes created for a husband and wife, their four children, and each of their children's future families. It was designed so that each home can be experienced autonomously while being part of a larger domestic network, like a necklace, REX describes. <br></p>
<p>The Necklace Residence's layout also allows the family to experience different views of the surrounding landscape, from a dense forest on one side to the ocean on the other. </p>

He hopes to fulfill this at the World Trade Center, stating, “I would hope it is the first venue of choice for the Bruce Springsteens and the Bon Jovis and the Yo-Yo Mas and the Lang Langs, and at the same time it’s a place where we could have produced a “Hamilton” project or where we could produce a new ballet.”</p></em><br /><br /><p>After being stalled for 12 years, the Performing Arts Center at the World Trade Center (PACWTC) is moving forward thanks to a $75 million gift from billionaire businessman and philanthropist Ronald O. Perelman. Brooklyn-based studio REX will design the complex, which will cost a total of $240 million and become the permanent home for the Tribeca Film Festival. </p>

<img src="https://archinect.gumlet.io/uploads/jf/jf7fgt47watxxi9r.jpg?fit=crop&auto=compress%2Cformat&enlarge=true&w=1200" border="0" /><p>Widely hailed in the architects-under-50 bracket, <a href="http://archinect.com/firms/cover/1887657/rex" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">REX</a> founding principal and president Joshua Prince-Ramus will receive the sixth Marcus Prize, as announced today by the <a href="http://archinect.com/schools/cover/13338/university-of-wisconsin-milwaukee" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee</a> School of Architecture and Urban Planning (SARUP). The prize is awarded to architects who have demonstrated at least 10 years of exceptional practice and show a "strong trajectory to greatness", as SARUP describes.</p><p>In addition to the $100,000 cash prize, Prince-Ramus will make scheduled visits to SARUP and participate in public lectures and and workshops during the spring 2016 semester. He'll also be leading a graduate design studio at the school alongside Adjunct Associate Professor, Matt Jarosz. The $200 million project consists of repositioning, re-cladding and interior renovation -- making it yet another addition to major redevelopments to NYC's evolving neighborhoods and when adaptive reuse continues to be on the rise.
