RUMBLE is UCLA Architecture and Urban Design’s end-of-year exhibition. It is an opportunity to showcase how the architectural and urban ideas that motivate us have matured and developed under the direction of our talented students and the collective stewardship of faculty.

This year, we are excited to engage a truly global group of critics and guests in conversations about the future of the built environment as forecasted by UCLA Architecture and Urban Design.

On the ground: UCLA's year-end student expo, RUMBLE, includes flying robots, seceding cities and much more

The big catharsis for UCLA Architecture and Urban Design comes by way of RUMBLE, an all-school expo held at the end of the academic year, that includes student work, final reviews, program installations, and lectures. Mixing content from students, practitioners, critics and faculty, the event spans a full week in June, and gives the public a chance to peek into A.UD's world. This year’s RUMBLE included work from studios led by Neil Denari, Frank Gehry, Craig Hodgetts, Greg Lynn, Thom Mayne and many more, showcased across two campuses for the first time in A.UD history.

In addition to their facilities on the main campus in Westwood, UCLA acquired a giant airplane hanger in Playa Vista for its satellite Hercules campus, now home to SUPRASTUDIO, UCLA’s M.Arch II program. RUMBLE: A Film, Architecture and Design Film Festival NYC

A.UD’s RUMBLE: A film, directed by David Fenster is selected to be included in the 2012 Architecture & Design Film Festival in New York City. Festival features more than twenty-five films from eleven countries including public programs.

As Los Angeles architecture schools with their year end final reviews are contributing to the discourse in varying degrees of engagement, there is one institution usually stands out with its excellence in quality education, UCLA Architecture and Urban Design and its yearly Rumble brand.

This particular event presents and reviews highest quality architecture and urban design work of its students under the direction of their talented professors. Rumble also invites and brings together some of the best educators, practitioners and theoreticians in the field to participate in Rumble with lively and spirited discussions. This event draws students from other schools and professionals from the field.

I have seen a lot of final projects from different architectural schools this year but clearly UCLA has proven that the school holds a spcecial place in the academia. Shortly after participating in Thom Mayne and Karen Lohrmann advised SUPRASTUDIO reviews, I walked around and my snapshot sensibility has curated this slideshow for Archinect's world wide readers... Forgive me if I missed your project or studio since I was exhausted and could not find every room.
