Influenced by the opportunities caravans and mobile homes have inspired, Dawes finds that <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/970848/temporary-architecture" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">ephemeral dwellings</a> not only allow the chance to explore different landscapes, but also promise exciting new designs, materials and construction techniques.&nbsp;</p> <p>"This is about exploring new structures, experimenting with new and sustainable materials, and building intimacy with our landscapes for a brief period of time," Dawes explains to me as we discuss <a href="https://www.landstories.co.uk/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Land Stories</a>, a non-profit initiative and vacation rental service that places contemporary architecture in stunning landscapes. One of the featured attractions appears to have fallen out of the sky and landed on the rooftop of the ROW DTLA building: MINI LIVING Urban Cabin is a site-specific installation designed by LA/NYC-based studio <a href="https://archinect.com/FreelandBuck" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">FreelandBuck</a> in cooperation with <a href="https://archinect.com/news/tag/807408/mini-living" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">MINI LIVING</a> and will be open to visitors by day and welcome overnight guests after 10pm.
