This iconic center features a variety of performance venues including three live houses, an outdoor performance space for 3000 and the Main Hall a faceted fan shaped building with a seating capacity of 5000.

This veritable 'city of pop music' will allow for simultaneous performances ranging from large productions of internationally known artists to more intimate up-and-coming artist's shows. Up to date production facilities housed in the crystalline egg of the Industry Shell compliment those of the performance venues making this the preeminent facility in Taiwan dedicated to the music industry and its products. The History of Taiwan's music industry is celebrated in the Cube - containing the Hall of Fame, a museum of pop, research and lecture facilities. The heart of the complex is a public forum in an urban park; an outdoor performance space ringed by shopping, restaurants and cafés.

As a city ages, the visions do not die but come up against the physical and ideological resistance of the place and its people. This is an account of a Manhattan that could have been – might have been. A phantasmagorical Manhattan where the visionary meets the everyday. The island as we know it is but a pale reflection of a city designed by visionaries – a city of mad, incongruous utopias.

The film (created for Hong Kong & Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale) visualizes several unrealized projects for Manhattan, including Buckminster Fuller’s dome over Midtown, Rem Koolhaas’ City of the Captive Globe, RUR’s East River Corridor, Paul Rudolph’s Eastside Redevelopment Corridor, Morphosis’ West Side Yard and others.

The Taiwanese Pop music scene typifies the phenomenon; while it crosses borders and cultures and dialects, it nevertheless has produced styles and genres with distinct transnational form and appeal. Though many aspects of pop culture exist in a hyper-technological or virtual realm, there is a need for a defined physical hub dedicated to the production and reception of pop.
