William / Kaven's new Oregon residence among 2020 Architecture MasterPrize winners

William / Kaven Architecture has been awarded a 2020 Architecture MasterPrize for Royal, the first in a series of homes to be developed on a parcel of woodland at the edge of Portland's Forest Park that is owned by William / Kaven and associated partners.

Royal includes four bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, common areas with open floor plans and an oversized garage. Hiking trails surround the home, further connecting residents to the surrounding landscape, something already emphasized through the structure's floor to ceiling glass walls.

The Architecture MasterPrize celebrates design excellence and innovation from architectural, interior, and landscape design disciplines. Other recipients of this year's MasterPrize for Architecture include Tadao Ando, Kohn Pedersen Fox, Vo Trong Nghia, Gensler, Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, Hopkins Architects, and Da Costa Mahindroo Architects.

William Kaven unveil full proposal for Portland's Broadway Corridor

William Kaven Architecture have just released additional renderings of the firm's redevelopment proposal for Portland's Broadway Corridor, giving a more complete picture of their broader scheme.

In addition to the initial release of Portland's tallest towers last November, the firm has now fleshed out what the rest of the 5 million square foot development will entail.

Their concept of reconnecting Union Station to the Pearl District involves removing the Broadway ramp and creating a pedestrian-centric district organized around an extension of the North Park Blocks.

The firm also plans major shifts to public transportation, integrating a central hub for a high-speed rail and underground mass public transit next to Amtrack's Union Station.

William Kaven unveils design for tallest Portland building

William Kaven Architecture recently revealed their proposed design for the US Postal Site redevelopment project in downtown Portland, Oregon. Currently in the conceptual design stage, the firm has fleshed out major goals for Portland's central site. William Kaven have proposed a multi high rise project with two lofty towers at it's center exceeding a height of 970 feet, and making them the tallest structure in Portland.

The master plan includes approximately 5 million square feet of sustainable new development with a mixed use of retail, office, hospitality and residential. The leading towers would be interlinked by a glass-enclosed botanical bridge spanning across the North Park Blocks. William Kaven intend this skybridge to be an iconic addition to the city's skyline providing dramatic aerial views and becoming a destination for downtown Portland.
