London may currently be undergoing a regenerative process akin to heavyweight cosmetic surgery, but under its shiny new surface remains a cranky old soul. The surgery is not without complications: the lack of affordable housing makes mainstream news on a regular basis. Gentrification, displacement of communities and encroaching globalization where one size fits all, has brought about an identity crisis to this brisk and confident city.
