Recent events on campus, however, tipped the discussion in favor of the contemporary — a new building by Steven Holl Architects opened, and just a few weeks later, a fire ravaged the school’s historic Mackintosh Library, directly across the street. This conversation between the traditional and contemporary, and the eventual transition of the contemporary into the traditional, is built into MacMag, the architecture school’s annual publication.
