How to Inject Poetry into Architecture: Carme Pinós in Conversation with Orhan Ayyüce Nicholas Korody2017-01-10T13:28:00-05:00>2018-01-30T06:16:04-05:00

That’s the question that orients this conversation between Orhan Ayyuce and Carme Pinós, the award-winning Spanish architect. Conducted at the former home of the famed architect Richard Neutra—what is now the Neutra VDL Studio and Residences—the discussion was occasioned by a lecture Pinós delivered at Cal Poly Pomona, upon her acceptance of the 2016 Neutra Award for Professional Excellence.

Seasonally, LA Forum draws on its own board members and reaches into the community to publish a newsletter under a single theme or proposition.

It's the Culture, Stupid: curatorial statement for the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam, from executive director George Brugmans Orhan Ayyüce2016-07-09T09:38:00-04:00>2022-03-14T10:26:05-04:00

It all started January 2010 when I first interviewed the director of International Architecture Biennale of Rotterdam George Brugmans for Archinect. Since then, our relationship developed and I closely followed his work at IABR which I find arguably the most serious biennale concerning urbanism and city-making at the highest level of reality and usefulness.

Review: Glen Small, Father of Green Architecture eric chavkin2013-11-25T17:33:00-05:00>2021-07-13T00:54:16-04:00

It is always good to see old friends, past mentors and new students at an exhibit honoring someone you love and admire. The work of Glen Small, the 'hesitant' father of Green Architecture is on display until the end of November.

The organizer and curator of the exhibit, Assembly and Archinect's own Orhan Ayyüce, has put together a smart, focused, visual overview that also includes several lectures, workshops, a book and a screening of the documentary film MY FATHER THE GENIUS.

A Conversation with Michael Woo Orhan Ayyüce2011-04-07T20:02:59-04:00>2022-03-16T09:16:08-04:00

Michael Woo is the dean of California Polytechnic University, Pomona the College of Environmental Design which contains departments of Architecture, Art, Landscape Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, and the John T. Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies. He is a familiar name in Southern California. Mr. Woo has served in Los Angeles City Council and ran for the mayor's office in 1993 as the Democratic candidate, losing by a small margin to Republican candidate and businessman Richard Riordan. A planner by education, Mr. Woo is a unique dean for a design school with the background of an established politician and, to a degree, an environmental activist. I sat down with him last December in his office and had this conversation.
