My path since college has not been traditional, but certainly rewarding. After finishing my Master’s, I looked ahead to beginning my first professional role. Soon after, as my husband was offered a job in England, we grasped the opportunity to live abroad for three years and travel extensively. The lessons I have learned working in the UK and traveling are unmatched. Designing within the rich character and vernacular of small English villages, understanding the demands for affordable and senior housing, standing in ruins of the oldest settlements in Europe - all these experiences have permanently shaped my approach and eye towards design.

The goals on my horizon now include earning my license and becoming LEED AP certified. Yes, these are career development goals, but more than that, they are tools that will allow me a greater reach in terms of smart energy design, material responsibility, and designing socially conscious buildings.

After designing in England for the past three years, the lessons I’ve learned concerning program demand and designing with context inform my passion for smart energy design, incorporating responsibly sourced materials, and designing socially conscious buildings.
