Craftsman

This home is situated in Santa Barbara's Rancho San Antonio Creek community. Requiring an extensive remodel effort, this project was transformed from a modest ranch-style tract house into a stunning craftsman with midcentury modern influence.

Elevating the importance of authentic detailing, the home includes handcrafted, custom mahogany millwork and cabinetry, doors and windows by local Santa Barbara artisan Nate Modisette of Bomo Design. One of our firm's favorite aspects of the design is the 22-foot vaulted ceiling with open beams in the living room and the fireplace and chimney, featuring sandstone masonry. Throughout the home, a sense of intimacy, warmth, and informality pervades.

The front façade showcases classic California craftsman architecture, complete with a small front porch covered by an extended roof, tapered, square support columns, and deeply overhanding eaves.

The kitchen boasts stunning views of Santa Barbara's Santa Ynez mountains. The open floor plan and earth-hugging horizontal profile are ideally suited for Southern California's mild Mediterranean climate. In the backyard, you'll find a chicken coop and an expansive vegetable garden.
