I only knew my grandfather through his home; he passed before I was born.

Though filled with his absence, I felt as though I could understand him through what he left behind.

When his house was met with a sadly common fate in the rapidly changing Korean building culture, I found it particularly disheartening to face the news of its demolition.  I felt robbed of my childhood memories.  To reduce his home to a mere memory was in essence my grandfather's second and final death.

This particular incident allowed me to recognize the intangible role of architecture.  While searching for some sort of reconciliation, I found my way to studying architecture and globalization.  These days, I day dream about the future building opportunities of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea...

I split my time between Chicago, New York, and Seoul
