Recently got into shaving with a straight razor thanks to the Art of Manliness article, "How to shave Like Your Great Grandfather." Once I finished wiping my poor damaged face, I got the idea that a shaving kit may be the perfect companion to my new evil blade. Certainly I didn't want to leave it out for someone to play with So the idea was born. Looking into what a shaving kit requires its basically a portable toiletry bag made of wood. I set out to construct. I used some beautiful purple heart as the base box then decided to use a faux leather that I had just discovered for the lid. A couple of reclaimed door hinges were hammered out to finish of the lid, as well as some perforated steel to make the inside shelf.
