Joan Pelegrì Square

This square is an important urban space of 'Saint' district in Barcelona, at less than 600 m of Plaça d'Espanya. The client, Generalitat de Barcelona, want to renovate it to become a district  landmark.

Main concept is to create a "promenade architecturale" with a steel structure to give comfort and shelter from the sun in summer season. A children's play area is located in front of a school open to all kids and in the right side of the square, where there are access of residential buildings, the idea in to channel the flow of people towards access .

To exploit the free energy of the sun there are photovoltaic panels above the steel structure of the "promenade architecturale" which also make shade during the day.
