Maximizing the opportunity of a strong visual presence, we focused the design concept of the new Gengis Khan Mongolian Barbecue in Lakewood, California by wrapping an architectural frame around the corner.  We worked through several design iterations to both maximized the function and aesthetic value of the restaurant.  Transferring the ancient Mongolian warrior into an architectural vocabulary, the dark textured tile simulates the armor found in historic Asian warfare. The subdued color and material palette subtly suggest a sense of history while customers dine over fresh varieties of Asian cuisine.
