Alberto Martinez is an architect from the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM), he holds a Master of Architecture II post-professional degree from The Cooper Union, and currently lives and works in New York City. His experience working and studying in countries such as the United Kindom, Netherlands, Spain, China, and the US has given him a holistic approach to architecture and its different ramifications in both the professional and the academic world. His interests lie from domestic spaces and housing typologies to furniture and product design; and furthermore, the influence of ecology in architecture.
Alberto is highly interested in ‘shrink’ as an architectural aesthetic. Thus, he understands construction techniques and technologies as well as their impact in contemporary architecture and a number of conceptual frameworks.
Additionally, Alberto has a great interest in architectural history and its evolution, because of this, he co-founded Hidden Architecture, an editorial project currently based in New York and Zurich; this project recovers projects and theories left out of most historical surveys.

ATLAS
Our project aims to create an atlas of architecture, parallel to the pro-official in order to propose an alternative built up by themselves to the discourse and the well-accepted understanding of historiography of architecture. Hidden Architecture is resistance, an attempt to make visible the difference in architectural practice and provide a deserved value to certain projects and concepts subtracted from the academic narrative.
JOURNAL
Hidden Architecture is also a Journal that publishes two projects per week that feed this atlas. This journal includes our own series where we write about different topics we think relevant for current architecture as well as series by collaborators where they expand the geographical and historical boundaries of the atlas.
