Brea Place Mixed Use

AB design studio, in collaboration with Architects Orange and developer Hines, provided consulting services to help create the concept design for Brea Place—a new revitalization project within a 30-acre office park in downtown Brea, CA. The proposed plan takes into consideration a range of community concerns, including traffic, density, and parking, to bring 653 apartments, 5,000 square feet of commercial space, and a 146-unit hotel to the area. Located along a busy neighborhood thoroughfare, the commercial mixed-use development comprises two five-story mixed-use buildings that wrap around central parking structures. Rooftop pool areas take advantage of downtown and mountain views. Programming along the frontage of the corridor features retail and restaurant spaces to support local. Expressive exterior elements, designed by the architects, engage and attract visitors at ground level. As a result of AB design studio’s planning efforts, the City of Brea called upon the studio’s expertise to create a new set of design criteria for future improvements to outdoor amenities along the corridor. Custom-designed sculptural benches for transit stops mirror the building’s gestural façade elements to break away from traditional utilitarian designs. The vision for a walkable community includes new bicycle paths and pedestrian routes.
