A Atallah

Portland, OR, US

I am a recent graduate of UO Portland's M. Arch program and am currently seeking employment in and around Portland, OR. My 6 years of experience in school, 1 year of volunteering with Architecture for Humanity, and 4 months in the professional world has given me the tools to problem solve, think critically, continue to learn, and thrive in collaborative environments. It has also allowed me to become proficient in not only physical design tools such as drawing and model making but also digital design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, and the Adobe Design Suite. With this strong set of starting skills and the ability to learn quickly and thrive, I believe that I can become a productive and valuable member of your team.

I have 4 months of combined experience working at FFA Architecture and Interiors as a practicum student and a contracted intern. While there, I was part of a diverse array of projects and had a generous variety of tasks. I quickly and efficiently built Sketchup models for interiors and architecture projects, created interesting diagrams for marketing, worked on submittals for several institutions, and worked on construction documents for a current residential project. My time at FFA allowed me to become an important part of several project teams and gave me valuable experience fulfilling different roles.

In my educational experience, I focused on civic and institutional projects because they influenced and benefited the largest and most diverse group of people in their programs. Upon moving to Portland to pursue my M-ARCH at UO, I gained a new appreciation and interest in adaptive reuse and expansion projects. In our current economic and ecologic situation, the most obvious architectural response is preserving and reusing what buildings we can. I believe that architecture is not only the shaping of space, but the shaping of human experience. As architects, we have the opportunity to move people not only physically, but psychologically and emotionally with our designs. We walk the line between art and science, form and function, and wants and needs.
