I've had the opportunity to work in various sectors of this industry, with companies of all types and sizes. I have many years’ experience with all stages of the design process at varying levels of responsibility.

Freelance architect, designer and drafter for several companies doing primarily residential projects of varying sizes.

Kiehl's Since 1851, New York, NY, US, Project Architect

Project architect on the Store Design and Construction team for a luxury skincare retailer, working on Free Standing and Shop in Shop/ Wholesale store layouts. Responsibilities included Preliminary Design layouts, Construction Documentation, shop drawing review, and various related tasks.

OMNI Architects, P.C., New York, NY, US, Project Architect

Project Architect for a mid level firm focused on educational facilities. I worked as part of a team under a Project Manager and was responsible for moving projects from the schematic phase through the Construction Documents phase. OMNI's main client is the NYC Department of Education; most projects conform to a set of specifications created by the DOE. My main responsibilities included creating the job scope report book from which the DOE schedules their work and sets their fees; creating the set of permit/ construction documents; and ensuring projects conform to DOE specifications and timelines.

Started as an intermediate architect and have since moved up to a project manager role on certain projects. Responsibilities include producing documents for Construction, Bid and Permit submission, coordinating with the client and contractors, responding to RFIs during the bid period, reviewing and approving shop drawings, overseeing junior staff members, organizing the projects and maintaining records.

Freelance Designer, Staten Island, NY, freelance designer

I worked as a freelance designer and drafter during a period of being in-between full time employment. I worked primarily on private residential projects, responsible for complete documentation of plans and coordination with the local building departments, general contractors, and principal of the firm I worked with.

Initial client contact on several private residential projects; worked closely with the client on schematic designs and through the CD and Bid phases. Architectural team member and Interior Designer on larger multi-family developments. Duties also included office manager and bookkeeper.

Responsible for all phases of the design and documentation process, including existing conditions surveying, schematic design and construction administration. Direct contact and interaction with clients, coordination with contractors, preparation of documents for bids, permits and planning/zoning board presentation. Started at a junior level role and worked up to project manager on many jobs.

Junior level role where responsibilities included organizing and keeping track of a kitchen and bath showroom; placing cabinetry, appliance and tile orders; coordinating with vendors and installers as well as clients. Initial walk-in client contact and assistant designer for cabinetry and ceiling plans.

This was a 12 credit graduate certificate course in Sustainable Architecture. These credits are applicable to a future master's degree.
