Leila Ghasemi is an architect and operates as an artist and performer in Los Angeles. She was born in Iran, completed her associate’s degree in architecture, and graduated with the best thesis project in the bachelor’s degree in Architectural Technology Engineering in Tehran, Iran.

In 2014, Leila founded the LAO architectural office in Tehran, Iran. Her office received first place in two architectural competitions in Iran simultaneously: the honorable mention for designing the Energy Pavilion in the London Competition in 2016. Leila also received a certificate of Finalist from the “YAC” International Architectural Design Competition for designing Arctic Hotel in collaboration with LAMRY Architects in 2021. After years of practice and being awarded several prizes, she immigrated to the United States in 2019 to pursue her goals in architecture and art. Leila graduated from the Masters of Architecture (M.Arch 2)program at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) on September 11, 2022, in Los Angeles.

Her thesis project has been selected to participate in the Study International ACSA student showcase. Leila started her professional work in the United States by working on two architectural projects for the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in interior design and extending spaces to the existing building. Because of her artistic background, Leila’s approach to architecture is multidisciplinary, a hybrid approach that combines aspects of art, body, and architecture.

She has also performed a live dance Dance headquarters show with an open-to-public at the Bendix Building Rooftop at Heidi Duckler Dance about (Movement, Architecture, Production) in June 2022.

Leila believes art and architecture are essential in shaping our world and improving our reality.
