Revision of Cudjoe Key. The proposed design aims to protect, shelter, feed and create a better community for the habitats of the island. The selected site is the most vulnerable for a natural disaster. Thus the design features a protective barrier with a series of raised soil beds for a community garden. In addition, the island has a lack of affordable housing, which led to a rowhouse and mix-used program. Given the inevitable sea-level rise, the revision is raised up on a series of terraces. In short, the vision is to create a beautiful landscape with functional public spaces that will withstand the power of a hurricane and protect houses and people.
