In my role as Deputy Project Manager for La Guardia I managed a large team of engineers, designers, architects, specialist consultants and contractors working to deliver design documentation and construction administration services for the new La Guardia Airport Terminal B. I managed the change control process for the project, developing cost estimates for change orders, negotiating approvals and tracking accruals against baselined estimates. This involved working closely with the Project Manager to optimize the billing and quality control procedures through incremental changes and structural changes when billing went from hourly to a final lump sum. I am a versatile team member who is proficient in using Revit modelling software which allows me to step into the technical detail as necessary to ensure deadlines are met.
Tasks:
• Providing cost estimates to the client for out of scope RFIs, Submittals and meetings, including coordinating and negotiating final estimates with all subconsultants.
• Contract review and commercial fact finding for legal dispute resolution.
• Optimizing internal WBS charge codes and invoicing.
• Optimizing quality control process for both in-house documentation and consultant documentation.
• Monitoring and tracking team member tasks and actual hours spent against baselined budgets.
• Liaising with the client and the developer on scope requirements for change orders and coordinating the technical review of change order RFPs
• Producing bi-weekly progress reports and providing backup of tasks complete.
• Coordinating a multidisciplinary team to provide design sketches for construction works.
• Producing high quality design documentation in 3D modelling software.
• Assessing and responding to RFIs and contractor submittals.

Role: Project Manager

In this role I was responsible for both the LaGuardia Hotel and Central Hall projects on behalf of the Owner, Port Authority of NYNJ. In my role as project manager for the LaGuardia Hotel I was responsible for all frontend planning of the project, including development of the project schedule and pre-construction budget. To achieve construction approval, I coordinated a team of internal Port Authority employees and external specialist consultants to prepare a briefing package for submission to the Port Authority Board. I ensured that the Port Authority Project Executive was kept well informed by presenting regular in-person updates on the team’s progress.
Tasks:
• Engagement of specialist consultants including drafting scope of work and RFP documentation, interviewing candidates, performing value for money analysis and compiling a recommendation for my client.
• Facilitated legal review of contracts and negotiated final agreement between the client and consultants.
• Provided direction to consultants and ensured appropriate engagement with the client was achieved.
• Ensured milestone reviews of the consultant’s report were carried out in accordance with the project schedule.
• Provided regular updates on project progress including schedule, invoicing, risk, change orders and design review status.

In this role I managed a number of projects on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Defence and the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization (ANSTO). These projects included the upgrade of the weapons testing facility at Defence Base Orchard Hills, remediation of Defence Fuel Installations (DFIs) at Defence site Chowder Bay and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Richmond and the expansion of a nuclear waste storage facility at the ANSTO research facility in Sutherland.
Tasks:
• Led teams to conduct detailed site investigations, identify options and prepared design reports for approval.
• Coordinated teams to advance designs to tender and produced cost plans for the projects.
• Acted as tender Administrator and Evaluator and synthesized the Tender Evaluation Board Report.
• During construction phase, I assisted the client to prioritize latent conditions of ageing infrastructure.
• Worked with client and contractor to develop shutdown schedules to minimize disruption to base operations.
• Administered government contracts; assessed contractor claims and invoices, monitored actual costs against budgets and monitored contractor performance against program and risk.
