While working as a Shop Monitor, I was given the opportunity and direction from the Shop Manager to research and select new equipment for a new rapid prototyping studio at California College of the Arts. I produced an equipment training program for all students, staff and faculty which is still being implemented today. I produced a list of environmentally safe and sustainable materials to be used in the studio and set standards, pricing and inventory policy, I created the position of Rapid Prototyping Studio Technician with the Shop Manager, assisted in the creation of the job description and produced checklists for the RPST to use in doing the job.

Awards

Alpha Rho Chi medal, Award

Since 1914, Alpha Rho Chi, the National Professional Fraternity for Architecture and the Allied Arts, has promoted the profession of architecture by encouraging students to excel. To honor their achievements, the Alpha Rho Chi Medal is offered each year to over 100 schools of architecture, whose faculty select a graduating senior they feel best exemplifies these qualities.

In 1931, the Grand Council of Alpha Rho Chi established the Alpha Rho Chi Medal to "encourage professional leadership by rewarding student accomplishment." The Fraternity provides the medal to selected schools of architecture throughout the country to be awarded to the graduating senior who has shown an affinity for leadership, performed willing service for the school or department, and gives promise of real professional merit through his or her attitude and personality. The Alpha Rho Chi Medal is awarded annually to graduating seniors at accredited schools of architecture in the United States and Canada and at schools with an active chapter of Alpha Rho Chi Fraternity, and is judged by the faculty of that school of architecture as best exemplifying these qualities.

The members of Alpha Rho Chi firmly believe strong leaders are just as essential as strong designers to the architectural professions. It is vital to our efforts to produce individuals committed to public service, as well as individuals committed to maintaining Architecture and the Allied Arts as noble professions. We also assert that high scholastic achievement is not necessarily an accurate measure of leadership or service. The Alpha Rho Chi Medal commends those students who show true professional merit beyond the design studio and their academic career.

The Outstanding Leadership Award, Award

I was the first recipeint of this award which I helped to create. The following is the description of the Award:
Excellence in Student Leadership Awards
The Excellence in Student Leadership awards recognize outstanding student leaders who significantly enhance learning inside and outside the classroom.

There are six categories in which students may be nominated for. They are outstanding leadership, sustainability leadership, outstanding community service, diversity & equality, outstanding mentor, and rising star.

Honored student leaders demonstrate a commitment to the values of justice and caring; act from a strong self-concept; think critically and creatively; take risks willingly; communicate effectively; exercise power appropriately; articulate a positive sense of direction; and evoke hope.

CCA students, faculty and staff play a vital role in acknowledging these student leaders by submitting nominations.

Outstanding Leadership
Through their leadership skills and initiative, these students have made a significant impact on the CCA community throughout the past academic year. Nominees have influenced the development and mentoring of future leaders of CCA. They must demonstrate examples of outstanding service to others and within the community. Award recipients are selected based on breadth and depth of involvement and leadership in cocurricular activities, leadership in an employment role on campus, service in the community, involvement in professional, academic, and leadership development experiences, and the overall impact on campus life and learning for students. Students are recognized for momentous achievement at CCA.

Certificate of Outstanding Leadership, Award

I received this award prior to the "Excellence In Leadership" Awards creation. The "Excellence in Leadership" Award was a brainchild of mine which I created at the school for members of my Fraternity. After a discussion with Student Affairs about recognizing these outstanding leaders of my Fraternity Chapter to the student body, the school created the "Excellence in Leadership" Awards for the student body as a whole. I received a "Certificate Of Outstanding Leadership" from the school the year before this award was created for my work on recognizing leadership at the school.
