About

I bring great knowledge of management, mentor-ship and design.  With 30 years’ experience as both a licensed Architect and licensed Commercial Contractor in America and 6 years experience in China, I am able to be a leader within our Asian offices and guide the staff to maintain top quality standards in design and construction practices.  I enjoy meeting with our clients in China throughout every stage of design and blend the best of both Eastern and Western Architecture into all my projects.  I have also been a guest speaker at several Architectural Conferences in China and USA as well as having articles published in China and USA media.  My last award is the 2013 International Top 10 Designers award which was distributed by China Construction Newspaper and sponsored by China International Design Institute.

My name is William Koetting and I am a 57 year old USA licensed Architect and living in China.  I am writing with information about my knowledge, skills and abilities. I have now been in China for almost 6 years as Design Director for several International Architecture and Planning Firms.  I am now with ATKINS but the work load in the Shanghai office is very slow and I would like to work in a more productive office.  I desire to be a long term colleague of a great firm.

I have attached an updated CV, Cover Letter, Profile statement and a few Portfolio photos.  Also I have many portfolio pictures that I can send for different types of projects.  In addition I have a PPT "Self Introduction Presentation" with over 200 slides and several animated videos of some of my work that I usually present to a prospective employer upon an interview.   I have many years of experience with Hospitality type projects, Mixed use, Hotel, Retail, Health Care, Educational, HOPSCA, Industrial and Tourism, as well as high-rise Residential projects.  I am also the Director of our Urban Planning Department so I have great knowledge of that area as well.   I have been guest speaker at several conventions here in China as well as been published in several magazines.  The following is a list of the job duties that I perform in my role as Design Director here at ATKINS:

* Hand Sketches for Conceptual Design

* Manage all projects on design, financial and time.

* Work with all consultants to achieve quality product.

* Supervise construction and make field decisions to insure design concept and construction capabilities.
* Review, comment and mentor Design Team in all aspects of projects including setting standards for project scheduling, presentation materials and design quality.
* Participate in design team meetings, brainstorming, discussions and reviews.
* Review presentation materials prior to presentation to client.  PPT, project books, drawings, display boards and models
* Present projects to clients
* Market presentations to prospective clients to promote the firm
* Create project programs / briefs
* Create Project Manual for smooth and organized functioning of projects (forms, schedules, memos, etc.)
* Mentor all office staff using my past experience
* Assist administration department with contracts and /or management issues
