Employment

Burch Creative Capital / C Wonder, New York, NY, US, Director, Store Design and Construction

Currently overseeing all store design, development and construction for 5 in-house brands, most notably "C Wonder". Brand is involved in an aggressive roll-out plan, including national and international markets. Since I started at C Wonder, my primary goal has been to transform the store design from large-scale, expensive construction to a smaller footprint, streamlined, less-expensive version of itself, while maintaining the "whimsical" customer experience. This has included everything from the storefront, to interior finishes, millwork and implementing standards for operating the back of house.
Responsibilities include assisting in real estate selection and lease negotiations, setting capital expenditure budgets and proforma construction costs, and local code research. I create the master project schedule based on site possession and communicate opening schedules. The retail environment is then designed based on these pre-set parameters and site conditions. I manage the store design team and external consultants to produce presentation drawings and renderings for internal and landlord reviews. Once design is finalized, I manage construction drawing production, permit applications, GC selection, and bid and contract negotiations. Millwork is produced by suppliers in Asia, so I also oversee shop drawings, quality control, invoices, payments, and long lead shipping logistics. I host weekly progress calls during construction and manage internal communication regarding schedules, change orders and quality control. At the close of the project I punch the store with the GC, collect close out documents, process final pay applications and collect tenant allowance.
