Proposal for Harlem Hospital restaurant concept and design.
Space conceived to be a metaphor for the stark contrast between the exterior and the interior of residential spaces in Harlem. The exterior is represented by trees and solid white blocks. Residential interiors are represented by triumphal arches carved into the solid white and lined with vignette collages based on the interiors of three families.
Food served by chefs in an open steam table line, giving guests the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the food as they make their selection. Seating in a round booths gradually becoming more private as the visitor ventures further into the space.
