CAREER OBJECTIVE: To find a CAD drafter/designer position in a progressive company where I can utilize my visual art skills and draw upon my experience in the construction industry; to continually improve and learn; to provide clients and team members with a level of service and workmanship worthy of high marks.
EXPERIENCE: 20 total years of journeyman-level carpentry experience, building and remodeling primarily high-end custom homes in Florida, Tennessee, Texas and California with some experience in commercial construction and tenant improvements. Two of those years in designing, building and installing custom cabinetry; four of those years as a GC license-holding carpentry crew foreman/site supervisor. In the somewhat recent past, I have produced, for pay, two permit plan sets, both residential remodels. I have performed several home inspections in the past.
SKILLS: I am proficient in AutoCad, Word, Excel, Photoshop, digital photography, graphic design; literate on both Mac and PC platforms. In fact, I run both operating systems on my iMac.
PERSONAL: I’m 41 years old, been drawing plans since I was a wee lad... recently completed a class at the tech college on SolidWorks... currently climbing the learning curve of Autodesk Revit, installed on my personal computer. It’s true I don’t hold any degrees from an institution, but I have many years of practical field experience on the construction side. I’m self-motivated, punctual, and able to work as-needed or full time, preferably on a 1099 basis.
